Being Productive

In between soccer presentations, Father's Day & the usual weekend chores I did manage to get some time in my sewing room.

I am off on a quilting retreat this weekend so I have dragged a couple of projects out of the cupboard that I have been meaning to start/finish for way too long.

The first is a quilt by Cluck Cluck Sew called Seville & I am going to use a stash of fat quarters that I've had tucked away called "Lovely" by Sandy Gervais.  I've cut out all the fabric needed & I may have gotten a tad excited & sewn together some of the blocks.

The other project I am taking away with me is another Cluck Cluck Sew pattern called Inside Out.  I am going to be making the baby size quilt.  I've had the main fabric cut up for about 3 years!! all I needed to do was cut the background & border fabrics.  For the life of me I do not know why it has taken me so long to do this, or even why I was making a baby quilt in the first place! I do figure though that if I finish it off & pop it away I will surely be able to eventually gift it to someone special.  It has been so long since I started this one that I can't even remember the name of the fabric range - terrible I know!

Anyway I have done the prep work & again I may have started some chain piecing.

I also spent a little bit of time doing some more hand quilting on my Gardeners Journal quilt.  This is the first time I have attempted hand quilting & although it is far from perfect I am definitely enjoying the process.

Scandinavian Rose

This is one of those very long works in progress! This is the first block that I have completed & I am loving the red & white.  I am hoping to make some more progress on the next blocks over the next few weeks.

Redecorating

I've been doing a little redecorating on my blog today - I hope you like it!

PLUS I have decided to combine my Red Raspberry blog with this one.  I will soon be reopening my little shop so stay tuned.

I have been very very slack with posting but there has been some stitching going on behind the scenes - photos coming soon!

Custom Orders

I've been sewing a lot of custom orders over the last few weeks

Lots of zippy purses & bags

These are insulated lunch and wine bags and are lined with a waterproof lining.  A new thing for me but lots of fun and easy to make.  I have a few more orders for these to do and also want to make one for myself in a different size and shape and a swimming bag for my daughter.

I have also been working on finishing my gardeners journal quilt - I'm only five years behind but better late than never.  I've got one more stitchery to complete - pics to follow soon.

A Special Gift

I have just finished a special gift for my mum.  It is to store her writing paper, envelopes, stamps & a pen.  The stitchery is from Gail Pan's Patchwork Loves Embroidery book - love this book & I'm loving the Tilda fabric.

It is my first attempt at hand quilting - not perfect but a start & very enjoyable.

Cassilis & Other Stuff

On Friday Raelee (Wish2stitch) & I travelled to Cassilis to catch up with Susan (Thimblestitch) at The Ploughmans Inn.  While we sat outside under the trees & stitched the day away the lovely Linda & Heather kept the supply of yummy food & drinks flowing.

I worked on my Hexies

Raelee was doing some cross stitch

And Susan some needleturn

These are also some other projects I have been working on over the last few weeks

A zippy pouch for a special friend
 And one for me

Another shaggy quilt for our market stall

Playing with some purse frames & fabric purchased from the Sydney Quilt Show.

We are doing a market stall tomorrow so I have an early start so off to bed for me.

I hope you have found some time to stitch.

This & That

Has it really been nearly a month since my last post!  There hasn't been a lot happening on the stitching front unfortunately.  A good dose of the flu, trying to catch up after the flu & sporting finals will do that!

I have managed to finish the last two blocks of my FQS 2014 Mystery BOM.  I am now slowly cutting & piecing the borders & sashings to finish this baby off.

I also managed a catch up at Cassilis on Friday with the Cassilis Quilters.  Unfortunately no photos of what we were all working on but a couple of Show & Tells.

Raelee's Toes In The Sand Quilt - gorgeous blues!

Susan's The Simple Life quilt - beautiful as always.

As always Linda made us a scrumptious lunch & I had the yummiest piece of apple cake ever.
