Stitching Sleepover

This weekend I spent two lovely days stitching up a storm with the Cassilis Quilters.

We all gathered at Lea's (Fairyflossstitches) for a stitching sleepover.  Susan (Thimblestitch) travelled from Mudgee to join us & we had a surprise visit on Saturday from Cardygirl.

We celebrated two birthdays -

And there was lots of show & tell

  Julie's Smitten Quilt

Susan's Irish Circles.  This quilt is gorgeous & also huge.  This was taken hanging over the railing at the top of Lea's staircase.

Lea's Natures Journey coming together.

I finished hand quilting my Gardeners Journal quilt - now I just need to add the binding & it will finally be finished.  I also worked on my Scandinavian Rose quilt & stitched some hexies.

We stayed up way too late, ate too much food, chatted, laughed & had an absolute ball.  There is nothing like getting together with stitching friends.

I hope you also found some time to stitch over the weekend.

Today I have been busy adding some pre-cuts & pre-order pre-cuts to my Etsy Store.  Click on the tab at the top of this page or the link in my sidebar & take a look at what's available.

Retreat Done & Dusted

Well our Middlebrook quilting retreat is over for another year (insert sad face here).

Twice a year a group of around 18 quilty friends & myself head out to Middlebrook Station for a weekend of stitching, laughing & yummy food.  What a fantastic time we had! Every retreat I vow to take more photos but as always I have such a great time that I forget.   This time I was a little more organised & did manage just a few.

One of the quilts I was working on.  A cute baby size quilt using the Cluck Cluck Sew pattern called Inside Out.

Kerrie enjoying the sunshine as she sewed the binding on her dads quilt.  She said she felt like she was  kicking back on a cruise ship & was waiting for a handsome waiter to bring her a wine!

Raelee from Wish2stitch visited on Saturday morning - here she is stitching down the binding on her gorgeous Tilda quilt.

Mary with the quilt she was making for her granddaughter.  The fabrics are from Me & My Sister Designs.  I wish I had taken a photo with the borders on - it was so cute!

Last but not least here is Kerrie, Trish & Mandy snuggling under Tonia's amazing appliqué quilt which took out a place at the Sydney Quilt Show this year.  The appliqué & especially the quilting is just amazing!

These weekends are fantastic but are over way too soon.  Thank you ladies for making my weekend so much fun & extra special - see you all again next year xxxxx

Being Productive

In between soccer presentations, Father's Day & the usual weekend chores I did manage to get some time in my sewing room.

I am off on a quilting retreat this weekend so I have dragged a couple of projects out of the cupboard that I have been meaning to start/finish for way too long.

The first is a quilt by Cluck Cluck Sew called Seville & I am going to use a stash of fat quarters that I've had tucked away called "Lovely" by Sandy Gervais.  I've cut out all the fabric needed & I may have gotten a tad excited & sewn together some of the blocks.

The other project I am taking away with me is another Cluck Cluck Sew pattern called Inside Out.  I am going to be making the baby size quilt.  I've had the main fabric cut up for about 3 years!! all I needed to do was cut the background & border fabrics.  For the life of me I do not know why it has taken me so long to do this, or even why I was making a baby quilt in the first place! I do figure though that if I finish it off & pop it away I will surely be able to eventually gift it to someone special.  It has been so long since I started this one that I can't even remember the name of the fabric range - terrible I know!

Anyway I have done the prep work & again I may have started some chain piecing.

I also spent a little bit of time doing some more hand quilting on my Gardeners Journal quilt.  This is the first time I have attempted hand quilting & although it is far from perfect I am definitely enjoying the process.

Scandinavian Rose

This is one of those very long works in progress! This is the first block that I have completed & I am loving the red & white.  I am hoping to make some more progress on the next blocks over the next few weeks.

Redecorating

I've been doing a little redecorating on my blog today - I hope you like it!

PLUS I have decided to combine my Red Raspberry blog with this one.  I will soon be reopening my little shop so stay tuned.

I have been very very slack with posting but there has been some stitching going on behind the scenes - photos coming soon!
