Today I celebrated my ?@ birthday. As part of our online stitching group Friends In Stitching each year we do a birthday swap and each year has a different theme. This year it was Eat Sew Grow. The gorgeous Jo from Tassie made for me this year and I absolutely love what I received.
Starting with this gorgeous box ...
and inside were these lovely gifts
Fat quarters and fabric lollies
A bunch of fabric flowers - I just love these
And some Toblerone Chocolates.
Thank you Jo
Also my gorgeous friend Bec sent me these lovely goodies
2 quilting magazines
A gorgeous pin cushion in fabrics from my favourite designers Bonnie & Camille
and a lovely bar of soap
Thanks Bec xxxxx
I spent the day at the cricket in Maitland watching my girl play for her school team. They won and she took three wickets which I think was almost the best birthday pressie ever. If they win their next game they go to State - good luck girls you can do it!

School is well and truly back and life in the King house is crazy - the last term of school is always a hectic time as we head into cricket season, touch football, end of year exams and many after school training and dance sessions. On some weekends between now and Christmas I will have to sit through up to four games of cricket - oh what joy (it is a good thing I like cricket but I can guarantee I will be well and truly over it by Christmas!)
I did manage to get some stitching done in the down time during the school holidays.
An Ipad pouch for my new Ipad
Matching zippy purse to hold my charger and cord and a tissue packet holder using up the rest of the fabric.
Some secret stitching
An altered version of my Vintage Modern tablecloth made using a Red Renaissance charm pack from Chloe's Closet and some yummy white ric rac
I also got the binding sewn down on my Ruby Pinwheel Quilt. I just love this quilt - bright an cheery.
I have also been working on a new design using a charm pack and yardage from Aneela Hoey's Cherry Christmas range.
There are also lots of great bargains over at Red Raspberry Quilts plus some new patterns from Calico Farm Designs and new Gypsy Girl and Sew Stitchy precuts. Head on over and check it out.

Yesterday I had my first market stall at our local markets. I realized on my way home that I had forgotten to take a photo - oops. It was a great day with the sun peeping out from behind the clouds on the odd occasion. I did really well for my first stall & had a lot of interest in my shop which I am really excited about. Today I am planning to relax & hopefully do some sewing for myself. Thank you to everyone who came and visited my stall - your support was wonderful.

I ordered this bag pattern for the store & was instantly in love & had to make it. I was amazed at how super easy and quick it was to make. The pattern uses a number of different fabrics but when it comes to bags I am a one colour girl & of course I had to make it in red. If I make it again I will most definitely use a heavier weight Pellon but I am still really happy with how it turned out.

As it is the school holidays here in Australia (and the beginning of the new financial year) I have decided to have a Pattern Sale in my store.
So for the next two weeks (until Sunday 15th July) all patterns in my store will be 20% off. So if you are after a new project for the holidays to keep you sane, or just because, hop on over and check it out.
Yesterday I had huge plans in the sewing room. I got off to a great start making some of these for an upcoming market. Then the unthinkable happened ...... I sliced a huge chunk out of the side of my finger with the rotary cutter - OUCH .... as you can imagine there was a lot of blood (none got on my fabric thankfully) .... so for the rest of the night I was on the lounge nursing a very very sore finger (yes I am a sook) and I couldn't possible have cooked dinner, or cleaned up lol.
It did give me a good opportunity to do some blog surfing and to really check out my new favourite blog Cluck Cluck Sew. I so love this blog and all Alison's gorgeous patterns (some of which I have in my store. I was particularly inspird by this red quilt that she made a while back.
I have this huge stash of red and white fabrics and have been waiting until I found something inspiring to make with them so I have decided to make this quilt (someday!) with this load of red and white loveliness.
Hopefully I will find some time during the holidays to make a start.

For a very long time I have wanted to open an on-line store. I have talked about it, procrastinated about it but finally a few weeks ago I decided that it was about time I just did it. There is a large number of sewing ladies in our local area but unfortunately we do not have a local quilt store. The closet ones are over an hour away which for us girls in the country is a long way to travel. I have also wanted to get back into designing which I did a long time ago when DD was a baby but over the years, for one reason and another, I stopped. So this is a way to sell my designs as well as stock quilting supplies, patterns and fabric for local stitchers as well as afar.
So let me welcome you to Red Raspberry Quilts. You will find me at
I am slowly adding stock and so far I have some pattens and paper piecing packs and notions but please, if you are interested, keep checking back to the website, or here to see what new products are in store.

I had not planned to attend the Sydney Craft Show this year at it was DD's birthday on the same weekend and we were going to have her birthday celebrations on the Saturday. At the last minute we decided to move the celebrations to Sunday which left Saturday free. What was a girl to do when her great friend Raelee suggested I join her and her friend on a bus trip. So at a very disgusting hour on Saturday morning we boarded our bus to Sydney (which left 3/4 late I might add - not happy about that). Because we were late getting away it cut down our time at the Craft Show but we did manage to get around and see everything and of course make some purchases.
I could not resist Natalie Bird's new Red Home book, and a starter fabric pack and some ric rac. I few months ago my bestie gave me a pack of fabric squares which I had admired. What I did not realise until seeing more of them at the Craft Show was that they were Tilda fabrics - drrr. So of course I had to buy a few more pieces to go with them. The Fresh Fabric Treats book is gorgeous with some fab projects and I could not resist a little Babuska keyring from Babushka Heaven.
I went a little crazy on jumbo ric rac at the Craft Queen stand.
I also got to meet up with these lovely ladies from my online stitching group, Friends in Stitching. Here I am (in the white scarf) with Christine, Sarah and Sue. It was so great to meet you as well as Vicki, Lynda and De.
I was totally exhausted by the time I finally got home on Saturday night (am getting way to old) so next year will definitely be a sleepover.
