Strip Update

Do you remember a couple of posts ago I showed you this pile of strips

Well on Thursday night Raelee (Wish2Stitch), Julie (no blog) & myself joined Lea (Fairyflossstitches) at Lea's house for some dinner & a workshop.  This is what Lea is teaching us to make.

Lea's completed bag at the back & Raelee's work in progress at the front.

Julie deep in concentration and her work in progress.

Lea multi-skilling - wrapping fabric & talking at the same time lol

And my effort for the evening - a little sad I know compared to the other girls.  I was the bad student who didn't fully complete her homework!

It was such a fun night with lots & lots of laughs.  The time flew & before we knew it it was almost midnight!  Can't wait for our next lesson girls.

I also purchased this sweet secondhand cupboard through Facebook for my sewing room.

It had now been delivered so I need to reorganise my sewing room to make it fit & start adding some pretties to it.  Unfortunately my DD has decided to share her yukky flu bug with me so I don't think there will be much sewing room action this weekend.

I hope the flu bug has not ventured into your house & you find some time to stitch this weekend.

Miss Kate

I have to confess I am a HUGE Bonnie & Camille fan.  I have loved every range they have designed, with Marmalade being my all time favourite.  I recently purchased a Miss Kate charm pack & after spending way too much time on Pinterest looking at table runner designs I settled on one & set to work.  Of course I had to add some red ric rac & got a little more adventurous with my quilting.  It certainly brightens up my kitchen table & my red lantern suits it perfectly.  I'm thinking some cushions for my lounge might also be in order.

After finishing my runner I set about building this pile of one inch strips.

What will I turn them into? Stay tuned!

I hope you are finding time to stitch.

Sydney Part 2

Outside the Craft Show we met up with Chookyblue & her friend Leah & headed back to Darling Harbour on the ferry.  Waiting for us at the wharf was Anita (Riley's Ramblings).  We booked into our hotel which was more like a dorm room! & then headed out for tea at Thai Foon at Darling Harbour followed by dessert at the Lindt Cafe YUMMO!

Here we all are enjoying a wine (or maybe two).  Not the best photos I'm afraid but we had a great time despite being very very tired.

The next morning we headed to Allandale for a yummy breakfast & a visit to Quiltsmith.  I have to admit that by this stage I was suffering shoppers fatigue but did manage to make a couple of purchases.  After Quiltsmith we decided to head to Material Obsessions (via the 'scenic route' - thanks Lea!)

Raelee (Wish2Stitch) & I at Material Obsessions - I may have also made a little purchase here as well.

It was then time to say goodbye to Susan (Thimblestitch) who headed off on her long journey home to Mudgee.  After a quick visit to Birkenhead Point we were on our way home too.

Oops almost forgot to show you my loot

Thank you girls for a lovely time away - I can't wait for our next adventure together.

Sydney - Part 1

Last Friday I set out way too early to travel to Sydney for the Craft Show. I collect Raelee (Wish2Stitch) in Scone & then travelled to Muswellbrook where we jumped into Lea's (Fairyflossstitches) car, collected Julie (no blog - yet) & started our road trip to Sydney.

On arrival we met up with Susan (Thimblestitch) who travelled all the way from Mudgee. We then headed to Darling Harbour to catch our ferry to the show.

Enjoying our ferry ride

We have arrived and we are ready to shop!

We had a great (and very tiring day) at the show.  Purchased lots of goodies, met up with Chookyblue, Cardygirl & lots of other lovely blogger.  We also wandered around the beautiful quilts on display.

Here are two of my favourite (not the best photos I'm afraid).

And another group photo

We finally made our way to the door at 5.00 pm and this was our view as we boarded our ferry

I will be back soon to share what I purchase & what else we got up to on our visit to the big smoke.

Sewing For Fun

.I can't believe how long it has been since I did a blog post of some stitching that I have done just for fun.   Most of the sewing I do these days is for my online store & market stall.  I do however sometimes manage some fun stuff too.

My 2013 Fat Quarter Shop BOM.  I'm loving this quilt but haven't touched it since February.  I really need to get back to it.

A little scrap basket for my sewing table

My Sugar Dish Scrumptious Quilt.  This photo was auditioning border fabric.  I decided to go with the red but don't seem to have a photo.  I must get this one to the quilter.

A new runner for my coffee table using an Apple of my Eye charm pack that I've had stashed away.

Next Friday I am off too the Sydney Quilt Show with the Cassilis Quilters.  Chookyblue & her friend Leah will also be joining us.  To say I'm a little excited is an understatement!

The weather is freezing outside today so I'm staying inside & trying decide whether to sew or hide under a blanket & watch re-runs of Downton Abbey or maybe both.

Happy Stitching - stay warm
