My New Adventure

For a very long time I have wanted to open an on-line store.   I have talked about it, procrastinated about it but finally a few weeks ago I decided that it was about time I just did it.    There is a large number of sewing ladies in our local area but unfortunately we do not have a local quilt store.   The closet ones are over an hour away which for us girls in the country is a long way to travel.   I have also wanted to get back into designing which I did a long time ago when DD was a baby but over the years, for one reason and another, I stopped.    So this is a way to sell my designs as well as stock quilting supplies, patterns and fabric for local stitchers as well as afar.

So let me welcome you to Red Raspberry Quilts.   You will find me at

and

I am slowly adding stock and so far I have some pattens and paper piecing packs and notions but please, if you are interested, keep checking back to the website, or here to see what new products are in store.

Sydney Craft Show 2012

I had not planned to attend the Sydney Craft Show this year at it was DD's birthday on the same weekend and we were going to have her birthday celebrations on the Saturday.   At the last minute we decided to move the celebrations to Sunday which left Saturday free.  What was a girl to do when her great friend Raelee suggested I join her and her friend on a bus trip.    So at a very disgusting hour on Saturday morning we boarded our bus to Sydney (which left 3/4 late I might add - not happy about that).   Because we were late getting away it cut down our time at the Craft Show but we did manage to get around and see everything and of course make some purchases.

I could not resist Natalie Bird's new Red Home book, and a starter fabric pack and some ric rac.   I few months ago my bestie gave me a pack of fabric squares which I had admired.  What I did not realise until seeing more of them at the Craft Show was that they were Tilda fabrics - drrr.   So of course I had to buy a few more pieces to go with them.   The Fresh Fabric Treats book is gorgeous with some fab projects and I could not resist a little Babuska keyring from Babushka Heaven.

I went a little crazy on jumbo ric rac at the Craft Queen stand.

I also got to meet up with these lovely ladies from my online stitching group, Friends in Stitching.  Here I am (in the white scarf) with Christine, Sarah and Sue.   It was so great to meet you as well as Vicki, Lynda and De.

I was totally exhausted by the time I finally got home on Saturday night (am getting way to old) so next year will definitely be a sleepover.

Seriously!

Surely it cannot be nearly three months since my last post.   Its official I am very very slack (at blogging anyway).   In my defence I have been extremely busy with the every day stuff and also worked full-time for an eight week block.   I have managed to get a little stitching done.

Some Hexies for my Leanne Beasley quilt - doing this is Bliss and a little Ruby

My DD and I are a little addicted to owls at the moment so one night (very late I might add) she decided that we just had to make some from the Natalie Ross pattern that I recently purchased.   DD's is the large purple owl (her fav colour) and mine is the little one.   I fiddled for ages to find the right combination and still was not overly happy (it was very late) however DD started with her favourite purple fabric, grabbed some others out of my scrap basket and within minutes she had decided on her combination which she loves - how do kids manage to do that??   Mine has rice in its backside to make him stand up but DD decided she wanted hers cuddly so she opted out of the rice.

Not a great photo I have just realised but I have slowly started the SKOW quilt to practice my needleturn applique.   I am really enjoying it, even though I am a little slow but I can see improvement already.

Last weekend I went to the Craft Show in Sydney but I will show you what I bought (and who I caught up wih) in my next post (which I am doing now so you won't have to wait three months LOL).
